I have mixed emotions on this one. The representation of the LatinX community was well done and I actually loved the Spanish dialogue throughout the book. It gave the characters a really authentic feel. The one liners and witty Spanish remarks were spot on and made some of the scenes less cheesy. I liked how the book started and enjoyed the chapters relating to the episodes of the show but I felt like it didn’t really follow through with the structure if that makes sense??
Middle way through the book, the episodes just stopped which kinda ruined the flow of the book for me. I just feel like if the author started with an episode every other chapter, they should have continued that way throughout the book. But I digress, that wasn’t what gave the book 3 start rating.
Now for where the book lost me… Wtf is wrong with Jasmine LOL. I’m sorry but she reacted as if Ashton was having a full blown affair while sleeping with her. I couldn’t relate to her overreacting about his son. I really feel like the author was trying to give a dramatic 3rd act conflict but missed the mark big time. She called him selfish and basically went on for like 4 chapters about how her life was shit, just to forgive him after 5 seconds after seeing him??? I hate when female heroines are written like this. It’s giving emotionally unstable. She also states like 7 times about her NEEDING to love someone. Idk girl there’s more to life, especially given her raved about acting career!?
The steamy scenes were STEAMY I can’t lie. I’ll give the author brownie points for that.
Overall it was a cute concept but not a stand out romance for me.

I'm excited that I understood almost all the Spanish!! I didn't fall in love with the characters so much but it was cute!
*3.5 read
I really wish goodreads had a 3.5 star rating! Reading about the production of a tv show and actors was very entertaining! I like Jasmine and Ashton a lot too but there was just something missing from this book and I didnt feel emotionally connected to the characters as well. There were a lot of times when the author was telling not showing us what happened and I also felt like Jasmine and Ashton fell for each other too fast. There weren’t enough authentic moments between them. Still a fun cute read and loved the Latinx representation in this!

This is a very cute rom com with some unique elements. I loved the family members of Jasmine and Ashton. The show within a book gave a lot of good insights into celebrity culture, especially for Latinx actors.

DNF’d at page 94.
I just couldn’t connect to this novel like I wanted. It was a little over dramatic and the Spanish took me away from the story (No fault of the authors)
