This book was so adorable and the perfect before bed read. It was so light which is what I needed. The main characters both have their own qualms with being a celebrity and as much as they don’t want to fall in love, they couldn’t help themselves. This was definitely like a mixture of Jane the Virgin and your typical romance novel. I loved that the author included a lot of the Spanish, made it seem more realistic for the story. Warning tho, this gets slightly steamy at times!
Loved it. Everything I want in a romance bonus the characters are all Latinex. This book is fun and sexy. Jasmine has just been dumped on tv by her rockstar boyfriend. She is moving from la to New York to start working on a new show for flix. Her family lives in New York and although she loves them it is easier when they aren’t in the same city. Ashton has been in Miama starring in telenovelas but he wants to make the leap to Larger productions. His family and his son live in Puerto Rico. He had a stalker when his son Yadiel was a baby and he decided to keep him out of the spotlight.they both plan to keep the set strictly business but fate has a different plan. They have chemistry and when they start to rehearse together, they start to have feelings for each other. They begin to sleep together but things get complicated. I won’t go further but I definitely recommend picking this up for a steamy, fun read!
2.5 stars rounded up to a 3 :/
I'm really sad about this one because I had high hopes and that BEAUTIFUL ass cover yall!!
This book had so many things going for it; a portrayal of diverse Latinx characters, a soap opera/telenovela/show business setting, and a fairly interesting hero and heroine but it just wasn't executed well
First off, these characters were well written but I just couldn't buy into the chemistry/romance that we were supposed to believe in. Any type of connection they had seemed to only be from physical attraction. Their initial interactions were few and very surface level in my opinion. This didn't make a good foundation for romance that I was supposed to root for. The banter was lukewarm and sometimes dry and any convincing the narration did to try and tell us they were so hot for each other, I couldn't believe it. I think the 3rd person narration could have something to do with it because while we were able to be inside both of their heads, I still felt very disconnected from their thoughts with the way it was told.
My next and biggest issue is something simple but cannot be overstated; the fact that 50% of this book was told instead of SHOWN. There would be a scene that would be very important for readers to see happening in real-time on the page, and most of it would be summarized in a paragraph with some dialogue sprinkled in here and there. I wanted to get to know the cast more and I wanted more interactions with Jasmine and Ashton just getting to know each other more before the romance finally happened. So many of these scenes just didn't feel fleshed out or well developed and I couldn't immerse myself into the story the way I wanted to.
I rounded this up to a 3 because, despite these issues, it was still fairly enjoyable but overall I felt absolutely no ties to these characters and wasn't invested in their romance. Hell, I even dozed off when the smut was happening. This book wasn't the worst but could have been SOOO much better.

Cute romance novel, very predictive but fun!
I liked that an intimacy coordinator was included on the television set. Hopefully that will be included on all sets in the near future
I will definitely read about the other two primas

I absolutely loved this book!!!! I am so happy to have read a book by a Puerto Rican author and that is about two Puerto Ricans and their families. This very much felt like Jane the Virgin and other telenovelas. Prior to this I had a hard time finding more contemporary books by Latinx authors. Many of the more popular books by Latinx authors are historical fiction like Love in the Time of Cholera or biographies like Down these Mean Streets. While all of those books are great sometimes you want something more lighthearted and this fit the bill. While yes it may be a little difficult to get through because there is a lot of Spanish thrown throughout the book it is still really worth it. I mean I could just bring biased because I am Puerto Rican but I’m ok with that. Everyone needs to go read this book!
I can not say enough good things about this book! I'm not typically a romance novel reader but this one has me reevaluating that.
The book is a basically like a telanovela written into a book, with another telanovela written into the story. I loved the chapters that covered part of the episodes. I need Carmen in Charge to be made into a real show!
And I've never given a spicy rating before but this is definitely a 5/5 jalapeno spice level! I also enjoyed how realistic the sex scenes were in that the author depicted them in ways people actually have sex vs wow, instant simultaneous climaxes.

I truly enjoyed this book! I love the Latinx representation and the modern day mindset of intimacy. Alexis Daria really took me for a ride in the best ways possible!
