A genuinely interesting topic, engaged with from a generally interesting point of view. The actual execution unfortunately leaves quite a lot to be desired, in terms of both style and substance. The low point for me was the extensive section that is effectively a left-wing version of the "Chinese social credit system" moral panic, which had already been debunked three years before the book was published.
