Not a really memorable romance. Lovingdon was rude and annoying the whole time. Really hacked me off for Grace... she put up with too much!
Heath has a way for portraying characters and building them as individuals as equally as she builds them as a couple. The emotions and thoughts of Lovingdon as he deals with the death of his wife and daughter two years before and his changes as he is drawn back into the world by Grace. Meanwhile, Grace has her own reasons for seek a love match that are just as emotional, and it was nice to see the idea of breast cancer and her loss of one of her breasts-- it is not something that is often seen in romance novels. Each sees themselves as lacking in some way. Coupled with a past friendship that is reestablished and their constant teasing and annoyance with each other I fell in love with this couple. His interactions with Grace without the attraction taking over are what sell their emotional story. The extra plot device of Vexley attempting to kidnapp Grace help add a little 'danger' to drive the couple home and to the alter without being the only focus throughout.
Would have loved this more if the duke hadn’t been such a dunce about never loving again.

The author's choice to make the hero's lastname be Lovingdon was REALLY bad, considering the word 'love' is mentioned approximately a bajillion times in this book. Having love be in his name too puts it into solidly obnoxious territory.
Lovingdon is a widower who spends the entire book thinking about Grace and how he cannot love her because of his deceased wife who he doesn't think about at all. We don't even get one fleshed out memory of her out of him in this entire thing. Meanwhile Grace is supposedly busy trying to figure out which of her many suitors really does love her, but we barely spend any time with any of them either. Granted, her reason why she finds love to be so important is completely understandable, and was the only interesting thing in this book. But that's not enough to make this book worth your time.

El think I like this series more than the one about their parents. Lovingdon really captured my heartttt and omg Grace such a strong woman who knows what she deservs is everything i need♥️♥️. The only thing I didn’t liked is the part where the climax is so rapidly resolved but overall I realy like this book!✨✨✨

3,5 stars. This wasn’t as stressful as other Lorraine Heath books. It was hot but the romance was kind of annoying because Lovingdon kept denying it while Grace was not shy at all. I liked Grace but I didn’t like that when she was described she was made to seem “not like other girls” but just from how she was and talked I liked her. I’m not overly curious or eager to read the other books in this series but I might read Drake’s or Minerva’s🤷🏻♀️
