In general, the way female characters in this book (in particular, though the whole series has currents) was just irritating. The two absolutely crazy characters in this series are women. One of whom Tavi kills because her insanity makes her too dangerous. The strong female characters all wrap their lives and choices around male lovers/spouses . I enjoyed the plot well enough, but the characters left a lot to be desired.
