Bu sorunun cevabı içinde bulunduğunuz yaşa göre değişse de bilinçaltımızda sürekli sorguladığımız bir soru sanırım.

Uzun zamandır bir kitabı soluğumu tutarak okumamıştım. Bir Katilin Güncesi beklentimin üzerindeydi. Kısacık, bir solukta biten sürükleyici bir hikaye... Dexter'i severek izlemiştim, yazması zor olsa da emekli(!) bir seri katilin alzheimer ile mücadele ettiği sürecin empatisini düşündüm... Alzheimer'in insan hayatından götürdüklerini sorguladım.

Bu yüzden gönül rahatlığıyla ölmeden mutlaka okuyun derim!

This is a Korean short story collection.......... the first short story has the sauce but loses steam at the ending; all subsequent stories never reach its heights
But WHAT a first short story! Diary of a Murderer is about a former serial killer who adopted a daughter, quit killing, and now has dementia
He's convinced that his daughter's new boyfriend is also a serial killer
There's a bit of flatness to the translation, but somehow that really works with the character!
And I looooved his voice
He's a cranky old man who also kills
I love when a serial killer sounds like just a regular petty uncle
And the narrator's increasing mental deterioration is so good...... like a cat and mouse game except the cat is dementia, and old age always wins
Unfortunately the ending was just full of cheap twists LOL. Like "omg the daughter wasn't really his daughter! she also isn't alive and he hallucinated her this whole time!" etc. Like...... not only does dementia not work that way, also we've now undercut the entire purpose of the narrative
And the other short stories were just kinda there
Like there's one about a kid who was stolen at a young age?? But otherwise I don't even remember what the other ones were

wow, such a roller coaster thrill ride.

waktu baca–Naudzubillah–aku ngerasa kayak ikutan sakit demensia, ahaha. hah, hoh, hah, hoh mulu. tapi akhirnya paham. the ending was good, too. semuanya tercerahkan, walaupun masih ada satu atau dua pertanyaan di otak aku.

cara penulisan yang seperti catatan harian (as the title said), bikin aku semangat buat nyelesaiin novelnya dalam waktu sekali duduk.

I loved the title story - if you enjoy unreliable narrators, this one is as unreliable as it gets.
The other stories collected here were good as well. I always hesitate when it comes to reading short stories, but whenever I do read them, I really enjoy it. It’s a great narrative form for sure.
