as others have said, first half is a bit slow with the second half just ripping by. action is solid, politics are fairly simple but engaging, world building is interesting, and the magic system is cool. it’s basically peaky blinders. some of the writing and dialogue can feel wooden, but overall excited to continue

I cannot remember the last time I was sucked into a book from the first sentence like I was with Jade City. I had so many out loud reactions and felt so attached to all the characters. Somehow I didn’t cry, but it got very close a couple times. That ending had me screaming at my kindle in rage!!! Bero, when I catch you Bero!!!! Such a beautiful book and I can’t wait to continue the series.
