Not my favorite book of the whole series, and sometimes felt like the pacing was off.. BUT I loved the characters so much that it really doesn’t matter that much. It’s definitely a good book and makes the series feel a lot closer to being completed. I love that Helene and Harpers relationship is growing and just over all good book.

THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING. The character development of each and every character is so complex, diverse and multi-layered. The plot-twists kept coming and coming and I never expected a single one. It was definitely the most intense, gruesome and dark out of the series but sets up the last book perfectly.  It is definitely my favorite so far into the series but each book just gets better and better and I feel like I am actually inside the Empire and living beside these characters and the crazy things that happened in this phenomenal book.

this is a VERY dark and emotional book with very intense and sitrubing parts but so is the entire series as a whole. It deals with generational racism and genocide and violence and gore and a lot more but this is set in a roman empire inspired world.
