DNF @ 56% - I told myself if I wasn’t able to finish it after my second library loan of 3 weeks was up I would just consider it a DNF. The kindle version was only 228 pages, which I have previously been able to read in 24-48 hours and in 6 weeks of actively having the book i wasn’t able to get through 60% of it.
I wanted to read the book because I was always curious how a book with this subject matter is considered a classic / a must read in literature. If I truly was sitting down and analyzing the language and rhetoric of the book I can see why it is so regularly taught in classes. However, just reading it was for me dull and a slog to pick up and get into. I will say I did read a plot synopsis and part 2 seemed more interesting to me than part 1, so I may pick it back up at some point and just read only part 2.

It was well written and the beginning and ending were very good! There was a part in the middle where I was like but why? But it was overall a good book! I think that part of the point of the book was that love isn't obsession. As for what love actually is, I'm not sure the book discusses too much.

Too much child endangerment, too much detailed harm on a child. I can’t do it. I know it was in the synopsis, so I was prepared when I started, but it is still not something I can stomach as entertainment. Couldn’t finish.
