The Highland Falcom Thief has all the components of a classic children's adventure story.
It's got trains, mystery, stowaways, friendships, a quirky cast of characters and kids outsmarting adults. It's cosy, action packed and such a lot of fun.
My only qualm with this book was the fatphobia aimed towards one character that I was incredibly disappointed by. It was (as all fatphobia is) utterly unnecessary, dated and frustrating.

That being said, over all I had a huge amount of fun with this book. It was a delight to read can't wait to continue with the series.

TW: fatphobia (unchallenged)

This book was so much fun and the mystery was just amazing!

Hal and Lenny were absolutely wonderful and I loved their friendship and mystery-solving skills. All the other characters were brilliant as well, especially Uncle Nat, and I really loved the illustrations along with it too as it helped me to picture them throughout.

The mystery itself was amazing and I loved it all so much as it unfolded. And the classic reveal scene at the end of the book was brilliantly constructed and I loved reading the whole story. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
