Sometimes you’re Maria, sometimes you’re BZ. The desert is a fit setting for these detached yet frantic characters. The last few pages were heart wrenching.

gripping, raw and real. The chapters are short so it makes it a fast read. Her writing and use of words is sharp and spot on.

Super short chapters, making it both a quick and unique read. Awfully depressing from start to finish, but great writing. Learned so much about the characters through their dialogue alone.
dark

This book was haunting and warm at the same time. What I found most disturbing was the deep alienation of these characters from one another, from the world.
All the glorious glimpses of connection come from Maria, and they are so beautifully worded that you can almost feel them like sun shining on your skin.
She is among all of them the one showing the most obvious signs of a mental illness and yet she is the only one who seems to breach the veil and feel something for a fleeting moment.
But in conclusion she is right, in their world there's barely anything left to feel.
And yet the ending has a profound aura of peace to it, serenity and understanding.
I'm not saying that is not tragic, because it is. And hard to read at times.
But GOOD ✨
