I read Rafe a while back and I enjoyed it so when I saw this spin-off I immediately started reading it. It just took me some time to finish (I forgot I was reading it, was in slump), but this was actually rlly cute. I am now a Rebekah Weatherspoon fan.

The main characters are so sweet and they're so genuine to each other, it rlly made me happy.

If ur skimming reviews to check whether or not to read this book, I am here to tell you that yes, u should read it rn.

Xeni has been my first read by Weatherspoon. It's been an amazing introduction to her work. The author makes it very easy to fall in love with her carefully crafted characters.

From the beginning of the story, I was charmed by Xeni. I loved the way her reaction to grief felt very real and raw. When it came to the love story between her and Mason, it was sweet and effortless. I was in awe at the way their partnership and camaraderie blossomed. It was so refreshing to have a MMC be openly and proudly bisexual. I appreciated the representation as well as Xeni's reaction.

The wonderful setting and amazing supporting cast all make this book a lighthearted, feel-good read.

This book was fun and light, but I feel like the author didn’t really give a strong reason why the main couple couldn’t just be together from the beginning. There didn’t seem to be much conflict. Even so, I enjoyed the characters.

I listened to the audiobook, and I felt that the narrator was a mismatch for this book. Any time he tried to say something remotely AAVE, it sounded super off.

This romance is immaculate. A marriage of convenience between a bisexual Black witch and a bisexual plus size white Scotsman. This is one of those romances that feels super tropey and fun, but has a complex and engaging plot. I enjoyed every single minute reading this book.

Rebekah Weatherspoon what have you done to me????? I did an internet deep dive on fat rep in adult romance/erotica (a topic on which there is a surprising dearth of information 😓), and found mention of this book. And OOOHH I am so glad I picked it up because I am LIVING. This was spicier than I am used to, and even included some stuff that I am way not comfy with, but I still managed to LOVE IT? I will be reading everything from this author that I can get my hands on.
