Note: I find it difficult to rate memoirs, especially the ones recounting abuse. Specifically, because I'm very aware of how vulnerable you have to be and how cathartic it must be for the author. The rating is for myself only.

As a TLC girl, I had to read this book because I would catching 19 kids and counting every now and then even though it would make me sad. Hearing Jill’s perspective was so eye-opening because you hear how explorative their dad was and the mental pigeon-hole the dad had all the kids in.

As a big fan of the Duggars and someone who followed all the way to their demise and beyond, this was a great behind the scenes look. She’s not out for blood but she does spill the tea. I thought this was a great look of the complicated workings of family drama. I was blown away by some of this. She did a good job portraying everything without being cruel or vindictive. After all, she does love her family. She told facts without condemning anyone. I loved it.
Listened to this because I used to watch the Duggars when I was little. As someone who grew up without religion and without all the cult-like rules and controlling behaviour, it's always been interesting to me to learn more about how the Duggars experienced life. I hoped for Jill that she would see better still how much her parents controlled and used her/them in some things, her mom too, but I also get that it's very hard to totally fight and change everything that you learned in life, and even more your parents.

I remember watching this show with my mom, while growing up. This story is very honest and brought to light several aspects of her story that I was not aware of. I really enjoyed it!
