Nothing really seemed too new or groundbreaking after the documentary. A brave reflective look at her life

I never watched any of the Duggar’s multiple TV series. I do distinctly remember Josh Duggar’s case and his arrest being a massive deal, even to non-fans of the series/family. I remember when this book came out and thinking I would never read it. I had no connection to the series, to the family, or even to TLC at the time. But, this book reminds me of two things - Bethany Joy Lenz’ Dinner for Vampires and TLC’s Welcome to Plathville. It’s the perfect combination of the two things that I love. Even if you aren’t a fan of The Duggar’s, I think this book was incredibly well done. It highlights cult-culture and how to escape, cope, and survive not only the cult, but sexual assault, and fame. Definitely enjoyed this one.

I read the entire thing today in a couple of hours. It was so brave of Jill to put her story out there. I'm happy for her that she found such a loving, supportive husband who helped her untangle from the manipulation of IBLP & ATI, her family's control over her, and helped her set healthy boundaries for herself. This was probably so healing for her and her husband to write and put out into the world. I hope her family doesn't shame her for how they may have been portrayed.

This one gets all the stars!! Her father & brother are pure fucking evil & I definitely wanted to chuck the book out the window at times but I’m so proud of Jill for getting out of that nasty cult! And proud of her for still loving her family & desiring to mend relationships with her parents. She is mature & wise beyond her years! Also, fuck Christian fundamentalism & fuck religious cults!
