Genre: Christian Fiction.

My Rating: 4 and 1/2 Stars, because of the girls attitudes about boys.

Recommendation: 16 and up because of the girls attitudes about boys, but otherwise I loved The Rebellion.

My favorite character is: Man, there are so many and I don’t know who is my favorite character is so I guess their all my favorites.

Vanessa is working for King Addison to help the homeless in Tarsurella, she is determined and won’t let anyone stop her. I like her relationship with Addison they are sweet, their differences sometimes come between them, but they work through them. Vanessa is a kind and caring girl not letting others stop her from helping people.
My Verse for Vanessa is Proverbs 31:26
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. King James Version (KJV).
Addison is running a upset country, while keeping his family safe, courting Vanessa and through it all he is strong, trusting in God. I like how he treats Asher when he comes home.

My Verse for Addison is Psalms 21:7
For the king trusteth in the Lord, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved. King James Version (KJV).

My thoughts, Miss Jarmusch is an AMAZING writer!!! I love The Tales of Tarsurella. Her stories are great! The only thing I don’t like is how the girls sometimes act towards boys, but their attitudes only take away ½ a star. Otherwise, I love her books! There’s great action. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. It is the best book I’ve read this year.

I received an ARC of the Rebellion from the author in exchange for my honest review and the thoughts are my own.

intro:

This book is the sequel to The Coronation and continues the intrigue, the romance, and the character growth of in the Tarsurellan court :D

review:

- once more, I loved seeing the characters return and navigate webs of conflict

- Addison is having a tough time as kind when a rebellion springs ...

- Vanessa (a very important character) is having trouble juggling all her duties and getting the council to hear all her ideas ...

- and their relationship goes through golden skies and stormy seas YIKES

- my favorite part was Asher's pov and story!! I love seeing his improving guilt-stricken self learn to CARE

- Chasity + Hansen ... OH COME ON YOU TWO KNOW YOU WERE MEANT TO BE TOGETHER

- Bridget + Liam ... these two were both so cute but err ... the twist in their relationship and identity were SURPRISES like what even??

- Hope + ??? ok I ADORE the storyline with Luke but I was so impatient to see Kennetic Energy again!!

- The younger siblings provided the much needed humor and relief from the romantic and political and relationship tensions *whew*

-And look I didn't forget anyone's name (except for Luke's but I filled it in later so you wouldn't guess lol)

- So a major major plot point is RELATIONSHIPS

- especially romantic ones

- so YEP THIS WAS A LOT OF FLUFF

- I appreciate how the author wove the stores together, keeping them separate, yet intertwined, merged with the plot. Also how every single individual is so ADORABLE. *cough*

- I have finally been able to remember the three oldest sisters' names and ships! #win but their age order? #dontask

- I still feel that FOR ME it was waaaaayyyyy more romance than I'm used to ...

- Also, the pov juggling, while done well, and while it did suit the story ... a casual browser or reader would be very very confused. It a sense it skipped around A LOT. And one does get used to it, but sometimes I wished it had been different.

- This book also had WAY LESS action than book one ... which was a RELIEF and A TAD DISAPPOINTING. I think things will be wrapped up in the last book but we have yet to see how much of this book was "filler" material compared to the first and last books of the series (no offense there, just something that happens a lot :D). Idk but I think that ... tension + conflict could really have been maximized more in this one. Obviously here it's a question of the author's intentions vs my taste, so no huge complaint XD

conclusion:

Well, I suppose it's three and a half to four stars, because I loved so much of it, but I did want a bit more action <3 Still looking forward to the last book (I think it's a trilogy) in the series.

recommendation:

I would recommend this series to teen girls who love royalty, modern day princesses, romance, all with great values, lessons, and a little bit of excitement thrown in :DD

And here is an excerpt:

If you enjoyed The Coronation, you are going to love The Rebellion! It’s so beautiful on seeing how God is constantly at work in us, and He always has something good in store for us, even if we make mistakes, big or small, know or don’t know our future just yet, he is always at work in us, and the results are just beautiful.

I really enjoyed reading the first book in the Tales of Tarsurella series, and I'm happy to say that book two was just as lovely and engaging.

The return of our beloved Tarsurellian family, for starters-- yes!! :) They made me so happy to read about them. And oh my word, the SHIPS. THE RELATIONS-H-I-P-S. <3 <3 <3

Addison and Vanessa~ I gotta say, these two were never my favorite couple, but they did rather grow on me in this second installment. Especially Vanessa; I loved her beautiful and vibrant personality and her determination.

Bridget and Liam~ I almost suffered a heart attack reading about those two-- *shudder*-- thank goodness it all ended well.

Hope and Complicated~ UM HELLO MR. LUKE WHATSYOURFACE PLEASE, IT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL TO MY HEART IF YOU COULD MOVE AWAY AND LET DAVID CARTER COME IN SINCE DAVID APPEARED LIKE ONCE IN THIS WHOLE BOOK

Chasity and Whatever Happened to My Life~ Seriously, Chasity and Hanson are my favoritest ship in this whole series and do you know how... UNHAPPY I was when Livy ended the last book like that? You should have heard me while I was reading this. I was screaming silently.

Asher... and Jane?~ <3

The Others~ also <3

So yeah, I loved this book and can't wait for book three. On the other hand, I also dread the arrival of book three because that means the end of this fantasticalness trilogy and I cannot bear that thought. .... (okay actually i only want my chasity+hanson ship to sail so if that just happens i will be very, very happy)

About this book:

“Vanessa Bennett lands her dream job working at the Palace in Tarsurella. She struggles to balance everything on her plate: life in a new country, stressful deadlines, crabby co-workers, college classes at the local University, and blossoming feelings of romantic adoration toward her boss–King Addison. Keeping up with her To-Do list, while trying to earn respect in Addison’s male-dominated administration, presents its challenges. Nevertheless, she can’t help but fight a reoccurring thought and the excitement rising with it: is Addison interested in her?
Addison is adjusting to his new role as King. Rumors of a rebellious uprising among the youth in Tarsurella intensifies, as acts of violence and protest break out across the city. Addison is determined to uncover the hidden instigator who fearlessly blogs democracy-driven ideals with a secretive pen name. Will Addison discover and expose the fiery rebellion leader? Or will his efforts fail to stop the rebellious thoughts spreading like wildfire, causing a heartbreaking rift in his divided nation?”

My personal Rating- Four Stars
Royalty books are typically so fun and it was neat to read this one in the month of the royal wedding coming soon.
Like in the first book, I did feel overwhelmed a bit again being (in this case) re-introduction to so many characters—and I definitely still can’t name off the royal family in age order—but I was able to follow along. While some discussions between the teenagers in this story do feel a little too eloquent, it’s still a fun read with lessons. Also like in the first book, everyone is matched up a little too quickly. There were a few twists that made it better, though, in my opinion, and will add to the third book.
Overall, it was a fun read and I do plan on reading the next book when it releases. :)

My Review

Setting: In The Rebellion, we are drawn back into the beautiful country of Tarsurella! I absolutely LOVE the setting in this series! Tarsurella is the kind of European country you could just spend a day getting lost in, wandering around cobblestone-lined streets, sniffing out fresh pastries from a local bakery! Basically, it's one of my top fictional worlds.

Characters:If you thought that The Coronation had a lot of characters, hold on to your hat, ladies and gents because believe it or not, there are even more in the sequel! The wide range of characters is one of my favorite things about this series though because they all have their own very well defined personality, sense of self, and character growth through the story.

Plot: As much as I loved this book, well it was long. While the plot does have many twists and turns, they seem to only come every few chapters and between them are very long drags. It also seemed to be more of a bridge between our introduction to these characters in the first book, and their conclusion in the final book than anything else. With that said, I am eagerly anticipating the release of the next book!

Content: Some violence, and a bit more romance in this one.

The best description I could give this book would be a feast for the senses! I dreamily imagined walking along streets in Tarsurella, smelling delicious smells from Clark's kitchen. I giggled whenever Millie got into mischief. I was nervous when the characters began navigating the choppy waters of romance and the new King Addison faced threat after threat. And finally, I sighed with delight when-well- I guess you'll have to read it! ;D

I highly recommend this book.

Guys I need the next book, but this one literally came out today! At least we didn’t have a cliff hanger like I feared we would have.

Yet again, Olivia managed to create a novel that made me fall in love with it the minute I opened it. Everything from her writing style to her faith that she included in this book amazes me. I love reading through the realistic, yet cliche romance between Vanessa and Addison. They are definitely one of my most favorite OTPs.

I cannot wait to read more of Liam and Bridget too. I cannot wait for their relationship to grow and strengthen.

I still have so many unanswered questions that I know will be addressed in the next book.

Guys, you really need to read this book. This review cannot even begin to descibe how much I love this book!!! If you have not already, I recommend you reading her books. They are so good. Anyway, go read Coronation if you haven’t and then read this book. I garuntee you won’t be disappointed!

*I received eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. A huge thank you to the author!*

Review originally posted on The Calico Books.

After reading The Coronation earlier this year, I was so excited to read the sequel and not only that, but be a part of the launch team. If you read my review for The Coronation, you’ll know I loved it, and I’m so happy to say that The Rebellion did not disappoint, either!

As always, my favorite thing about Livy Jarmusch’s books are the characters! Her characters are always so well-written and memorable, and it’s no different for The Rebellion. I loved getting to know the royal family even more in this book. There’s so much character growth for everyone in this novel, and as I was reading it, I honestly felt like a proud mother/sister/friend to some of these characters, and some of the choices they made. Everyone has grown up, emotionally, so much in book 2. I want to keep things spoiler free, but I just want to say, I especially felt this way about Bridget and Asher. There was SO much character growth; I loved it!

Aside from all the characters I grew to love from book 1, this book also features several new characters as well! I loved getting to know them, and every single one of them really added something to the story and made it what it was. I’m so excited to see what happens next for them and their families in book three!

The actual plot of The Rebellion was just so intriguing, too! I didn’t want to ever stop reading this book. There were so many plot twists and surprises this time around, I even audibly gasped while reading it at times. That’s all I’m going to say about that!

Also, like all of her books, Livy Jarmusch always puts her faith and values at the forefront of her books, and I always appreciate that. There’s no fowl language or inappropriate content. The romance in this book so clean, but still so sweet and so romantic! The Tales of Tarsurella series is such a perfect example that you can have intense, action-packed and romance-filled books, without including edgy or sometimes questionable content.

Overall, The Rebellion makes a great addition to The Tales of Tarsurella! There’s so much action, romance, and adventure. I’m so excited for book 3! Book 2 isn’t even technically out until Tuesday, and the wait for The Wedding (#3) is already killing me!! I would definitely recommend this book, and the entire series, to anyone looking for well-written, faith-filled YA – especially if you love royalty stories!
