Like [b:Animalia|682751|Animalia|Graeme Base|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1177117831s/682751.jpg|2347064] this book kept me occupied for hours. Working out each little puzzle and trying to work out who the culprit was. I will have to find my old copy.

Since I was too young to even read it myself, I have loved this book. With it's colourful illustrations, fun characters and enticing mystery it is clear that Graeme Base has a gift for creating not just a book, but a work of pure art. This book holds countless hours of my childhood, engrossed in the story and trying to solve the mystery behind who stole the feast. It took me until I was about seven to finally figure it out! Even now, I love curling up every now and then and reliving this beautiful tale.

One of my very favorite books as an older child - my sisters and I poured over this book for weeks.

I'd been meaning to read this picture book to see how difficult but solvable the puzzles will be for kids. I can only imagine how much fun it would have been before the internet spending so much time poring over the details trying to figure out the clues. Plus, I enjoyed the extra mystery.

The illustrations are incredible. So much you could consider it chaotic if it wasn't so interesting.

I LOVE THIS BOOK. I did a program based in it for tweens last year and it was amazing (albeit sparsely attended, but it's a tween program so any attendance is great!). Any time any person expresses any interest in puzzles (coworkers, kids, parents, strangers) I leap up and offer them this book. I love introducing kids to anagrams and pigpen ciphers, because I distinctly remember my elementary school library helping me as I pored over this book as a weird 5th grader. I had so much fun!
