Jodi Taylor's second book in the Elizabeth Cage series didn't disappoint. There was quite a lot of setup in this book, so I'm looking forward to some kind of pivot in book #3.

Didn't like it. This is the first Jodi Taylor I haven't loved. What made the first book fun was the banter between Elizabeth and Jones. This book almost completely lacks that and I just did not care for the story. Elizabeth is only interesting when she is with others; on her own she is colorless (ha!) and uninteresting.

This definitely is another rather wild ride where Jodi Taylor goes against the grain and mixes topics together in a way that offers the opportunity to have another look for yourself at them.
Jodi Taylor is not only a history buff but also a myth, legend and folklore buff. The many tales she weaves into this book are amazing and interesting to read, as there are quite a few unexpected twists and turns that I so far have not encountered in retellings.
However, I am still not yet sure if I even like the main character. Because, to be honest, she is so reactionary in so many ways, and yet, her telling the story draws you in and makes you even now wonder, who or what exactly is Elizabeth Cage?

This is the 2nd in a series. I wasn't as thrilled with the first book, "White Silence" as I have been with pretty much everything else Taylor has written, but it was fine. This book went seriously off the rails. The original premise, where the heroine, Elizabeth, had some psychic ability that a sinister institute wanted to use for sinister purposes turned into a huge mishmash of supernatural chaos. Elizabeth starts off as an introvert who loses the man she loves and is a bit lost; in this book, she turns into a mass of insecurity, indecisiveness, and dependency. I was very disappointed.
I highly recommend Taylor's "Chronicles of St. Mary's" series and also "The Nothing Girl" duo, but just can't recommend this series.
