Okie dokie. This book was odd. I didn’t dislike it but at the same time I don’t think it resonated with me. The story was fun and… interesting 😳, but the romance wasn’t romancing for me the way I think it was supposed to.

I KNOW this is a vampire book BUT I’m weird about needles and IVs and stuff and since blood drinking was a big part of the romantic plot I was unfortunately literally heavily and embarrassingly gagging through a lot of their romantic scenes…. I wish this was a joke.

The story itself was quite fun though! I really enjoy Ali Hazelwood’s humour and her incredibly intelligent writing style! It was a good palette cleanser book and a good wee mystery!

FUN OVERALL BUT I GUESS IM NOT AS TEAM EDWARD AS I THOUGHT I WAS! DAMMIT ALL TO HELL!

Good story, always love a strong heroine. The sexy time scene wasn’t super awkward, but I never really comfortable with all that anyhow.

Were there cringy moments in this book? Yes. Was Misery sarcasm a big highlight of the book? YES! Her banter with Lowe is both entertaining and hilarious at times. If I was a vampire, I totally would be Misery. A sarcastic with a bit of a hot mess. It was a bit predictable but you couldn’t help but love the characters.

Good, fun read. This is my first Ali Hazelwood book and it likely won't be my last. I enjoyed the world building and characters. The romance was cute and I got the twists almost immediately, not a bad thing though in this case.
