This one shocked me in how much I liked it. 1, I don't normally read
Omegaverse
stuff. And 2, I don't really read much Vampire or Werewolf fiction.  But I generally like Hazelwood's STEM girls, and Misery, our main character in this book is a STEM girl, even if she is a vampire.  The writing style was really good, true to Hazelwood's typical style.  Quite a bit of spice, but again, has that
omegaverse spice
to it, which I don't normally engage with.  The mystery of it wasn't too difficult to figure out, but I enjoyed the journey a lot and there were some things that I was surprised by.  All in all, would definitely recommend.

In “Bride,” I was drawn into a tale where Misery’s union with Lowe, an Alpha Ware, isn’t just a love story—it’s a marriage of political convenience that’s as strategic as it is passionate. Their alliance is a search for answers, cloaked in the thrill of Misery’s hacking skills. The introduction of lilac-eyed vampires and green-blooded werewolves was a hilarious twist that I didn’t see coming. And Ana, the child character, had me in stitches with her antics.

Lowe’s mind was a battleground of denial and desire, with every passing second drawing him deeper into Misery’s orbit. Despite his best efforts to maintain a facade of indifference, his thoughts often wandered into forbidden territory, revealing a tumult of raw, unspoken yearnings. As an ex-architect turned Alpha Ware, his structured world was upended by Misery’s fierce independence and strength. His admiration for her was as undeniable as the gravitational pull he felt towards her, making it impossible not to fall for her, one heartbeat at a time. Every time Lowe uttered the words “my wife,” it sent shivers down my spine, making me swoon with the sheer romance of it.

Having devoured shifter romances in my early 20s, “Bride” threw me for a loop. It challenged the norms I’d come to expect from the genre, especially with an Alpha Ware who offers his mate autonomy—a bold move by Ali Hazelwood. The villain was a curveball I didn’t see coming, and while the book diverges from Hazelwood’s usual STEM romance, it was a refreshing change. The spicy scenes were a bit weird for me, but that’s the beauty of literature—it’s full of surprises!

I honestly just don’t get it. I’m not really a fan of Ali’s writing but I thought since this was a different genre is might be something I like. It’s just a complicated world yet nothing complicated about it and a lot of it doesn’t make sense to me. It also isn’t very clear on who’s talking when and there’s way to many characters involved.

I really liked this. I really, really liked this.

It was a ton of fun, the hype held up, the romance spicy but emotionally charged, the world-building clunky, sure, but I also had a ton of fun. This was everything I wanted in an Ali Hazelwood vampire/werewolf romance, and I happily devoured it!
