I was really into this graphic novel and loved the art and concept (plus early 2000’s emo kid nostalgia). But, the last bit of the book seemed super rushed. A bunch of big events happen very quickly. I would have liked it to be a bit longer and play out the details a bit more.

a lovely early 2000's romp around the awkwardness of being a kinda weird teenager.
Cute, relatable, but it had waaaaaay too many things going on. I think it would have been better if it focused on one avenue.
This was good! Great art. Good story. Still shipping her with either Steph or Layla, haha (especially after that ending). I loved that she loved games. I loved that, despite how people may react, she stuck to her attire and rocked in it. I loved that she was constantly fawning over a gorgeous jacket, girl, I know that feeling. That person from the mall (security I guess) was such a fun character and I love how she was there for our MC. Oh, and the art was fun!
At times the connections between bits could be better, also the blurb wasn't entirely right, she knows that Jake has a girlfriend until near the middle/end when he told her he didn't have a relationship anymore and she goes to him, and yes, at times the flirting when he had a girlfriend got a bit much. Like, I get it, you like him, but just no. And I hope that, given the end, the teacher finally gets what he deserved, what a sick fuck and I feel for his wife.

Look, at least part of my rating for this book is entirely my fault. I didn't read the blurb before going into this one. I just saw the cover and that it was available at my library and called it good. So I didn't know that this was about a 15 year old girl who's being groomed by her 36 year old married-with-a-child-on-the-way teacher. And as someone who works in a school, that entire plotline a) gave me the biggest fucking ick, and b) didn't resolve in a way that made sense to me. Like...GO TO THE POLICE, MA'AM. DON'T WAIT TO TALK TO THE PRINCIPAL. I know it was the early 2000s, but still.
Anyway. The moving-to-a-new-town stuff and the gaming stuff was pretty delightful. I just wanted more from the main storyline than I got.
