New girl, coming of age story for the early 2000s. Deals with family issues, being bisexual in a time that it wasn't accepted well in, teenage relationships and all the hormones. I loved that its placed in a mall for a good portion, and working part time sucky jobs at the mall but also a place for the teens to hang out because that was such a huge part of the 00s culture. Some of the themes that are dealt with I think are good for teens to see how subtle some things can come into play and it not seem like that big of a deal. That crossing a line happens and you're going to mess up but your real friends and family will be there for you. Being a teenager is hard especially when you think you can trust people, that then take advantage of the situation. This book is executed well, minus some areas that needed a bit more detail, like when they are snowed in and she goes to Jakes house, and the lie that is told.
