OK so I know the book title says that this is 3 books, but really we only read Oedipus the king
(found Antigone alone, but we haven't made it to that book yet) , I just couldn't find Oedipus the King all by itself.
So this book wasn't bad, wasn't my favorite, i mean come on how can you not know that it was the king who you murdered. And after awhile don't you think you might have put all the pieces together, but i guess that's just me.
Truth be told it wasn't bad, but it wasn't my favorite.

Interesting.....read it for school. It was good, but the incest threw me. I mean it wasn't like he knew that his prophecy was actually going to come true. He thought he avoided it from leaving his "parents" that he thought were his birth parents. I think since he was in the dark about his past, that it wasn't as bad when he found out the truth. When he married Jocasta, he had no clue that she was actually was his mom and that the man he killed was his birth father. It wasn't like he knew from the start and decided to marry her and kill his father anyways, so it somewhat excused the incest a TINY bit. It still disturbed me when I found out though.

Enthralling. Easy to see why the Greek plays are timeless. This version was very easy to read and understand, and it included informative notes in the back. Loved it!

So glad to have finally read this cover to cover!

Antigone: (a reread) Easily my favourite. It's so layered and the relationships and themes so complex! (5 stars)

Oedipus the King: This feels almost a little clumsy in the COPIOUS amounts of irony, but I do agree that it is a great work and a story that I'm glad I have finally read. (4 stars)

Electra: This was my east favourite of the three but I still really enjoyed it and agree it's complex/clever. It was just hard for me because since reading Pandora's Jar by Natalie Haynes. I have so much respect for Clytemnestra. Hoping to read the Oresteia soon to further my knowledge/opinions. (3-4 stars)
