Amazing book. Very emotional. Predicted some twists but many were a surprise. Great story of community and human flaws.
Fantastic ending - did not expect Matthew to be alive

Oh my goodness. I loved this book. This is my favorite book that I have read since Crawdads. (They are very similar by the way). Both set in the 70’s and offer a beautiful love story and you watch the main protagonist grow up and face a variety of challenges, domestic abuse being one of them.

The backdrop of wild Alaska was captivating. I have never been. But this entire book is a love letter to Alaska, and it puts “visit Alaska” further up on my bucket list.

I loved Matthew and Leni. I loved Large Marge. I loved the suspense, and the heartbreak and the whole story was just an experience for me. I can’t believe that 3 years ago I started this book and got 3 chapters in before quitting. I’m so glad that I gave it another chance. I was absolutely captivated. And while it is long and some may think it goes on too long, I disagree. I loved it right up until the last minute. I’ll be recommending this book for years to come.
