From the very first page, The Defense had me hooked! Steve Cavanagh sure knows the way to my heart with the heart-pounding tension and nonstop suspense. I’m so glad I decided to go back and start the Eddie Flynn series from the beginning.
This one doesn’t have quite as many crazy twists as some of the later books, but honestly? It’s the perfect introduction to Eddie’s character and the wild world he operates in. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough! Can’t wait to see what chaos Eddie gets into next.

Doesn’t feel like a book I’d normally choose to read but I think it did well at what it did. I’m not a huge fan of a thriller without a driving mystery and though it was pacy and there was always something happening it did feel a bit like it lacked drive because let’s be honest you know the hero’s always going to win right?
If you like courtroom drama involving violence, threats and intimidation, you’ll like this one.
Seemed like the author was trying too hard. The writing wasn't very mature in a way that made me roll my eyes at the dramatic sentences rather than being gripped by the story. The story plot was fine and had potential but halfway through I was bored so I ended up skimming and skipping parts to get through the book faster. I don't usually have to do that on crime thrillers.
