With more than 5,700 reviews already on GoodReads, many of them top drawer, there is little that I can add about the book. It is an important piece of popular fiction and seminal in the serial killer genre. But what I haven't seen mentioned, although I'm sure someone has brought this up, is this from page 301: "In addition he had a Strycker [sic] autopsy saw, which he hardly ever used and regretted buying." This is from the most current paperback issue of the book. Now the correct spelling of the saw manufacturer is Stryker. It would seem that by now the spelling would have been corrected. Maybe it is too minor for the publisher to bother with. And while Harris doesn't say why Jame Gumb regretted buying the saw, I assume it was because he didn't use it much rather than it not being any good.

The curse has finally lifted; I read a book before watching the movie.

I had high hopes after hearing numerous great reviews. But the book is decent at best.

The book could have had more of Dr. Hannibal Lecter's whimsy affairs.
