Fantastic Four Vol. 3: The Herald Of Doom by Dan Slott, Paco Medina, Stefano Caselli, Aaron Kuder

Pretty classic FF story. Maybe a bit too safe or “been there done that.” The nod to Lifebringer Galactus made me remember how cool that concept was. Wish more would have been done with that. Slott’s Doom feels a bit too arch. The art is strong and consistent, even though there are several art team switches.

This is fine. But I don't think this run of FF is for me. Which is a shame. They were gone for so long, and they're one of my favorite hero groups. But it just feels a little scattered. There are some great, fun moments, but there's just not much of a hook to keep me going.

Overall The Herald of Doom collection was enjoyable, but maybe I'm just not getting overly excited about all the teenage hoopla of Franklin and Val. FF is a book about a family, which I love that, but these family tensions are only okay so far. However, I did dig the dramatics with Doctor Doom!

Mostly, It was ok but I really hate the pages that Yancy St. people attack the Ice Trolls with baseball bats and golf sticks.
Wooow, what a badass neighborhood!!

I legitimately hate the constant back-sliding they keep pulling off with Doom; he was at an interesting place at the end of Bendis' "Superior Iron Man" run and to treat that run as if it never happened is a disservice to what was legitimately an interesting character arc from all the way from Hickman's FF run to the finale of SIM.
For what it is though, a FF/Galactus/Doom story, this was a pleasant enough read. Slott does an excellent job of capturing the voices and the ever-mystical 'feel' of all four of our fantastic team.
Now, if I could only live down the crippling disappointment I feel over Doom backtracking.
