As charming as the characters are, and how familiar their sisterly dynamic is, the preachiness of the story and clear intent to share specifically female moral lessons started to really irritate me so I had to DNF

I wish I hadn’t taken so long to get to this one.  The characters were inspiring as they worked to improve themselves.  Very hopeful and positive, but sometimes emotional.

i can’t believe i hadn’t read this until now. i can’t believe i didn’t have to read it in school? and finally, i can’t believe such an accurate depiction of girlhood and sisterhood was published over 150 years ago.
