I marked 3 stars but I would have to say it was like a 3,5-3,75 star book. This book wasn’t always my kind of book. The first two parts of it specifically where really tough for me to get through. For awhile I thought it was only worth like 2,5 stars. However I have to say the last two parts pleasantly surprised me. I think if the whole book was like the last two parts I would’ve given it 4,5-5 stars. It’s not that the writer is bad because he’s not, it’s more the way he chooses to write that didn’t sit right with me.
I found that it was an easy read but the pages are wordy and crammed. It does not lead to a pleasant reading experience. I already have problems reading cause of my eyes and this made it so much harder. I also wish that the writer had made Elio less of a perv.

genuinely genuinely a beautiful book, there’s soooo many beautiful lines.

but i just couldn’t get over the age gap sorry there are some beautiful lines about the gap and like i get it but idk it just doesn’t sit right with me. and i’m just weak but it’s a little too explicit for me but i don’t regret finishing this book because “Ghost Spots” was amazing.

This is one of the best books I have ever read.
It’s such a poignant capture of a young love that pokes at its drama as much as it takes it seriously.
I don’t know how it’s possible to portray someone’s inner life so well. A literary masterpiece and one that will go down in the annals of literature.

I don't even know how to describe this book. The prose is absolutely stunning, incandescent... though, contrary to the back page's bold declaration, I would not call this a love story lmao

I would advise readers to research this book thoroughly and read the content warnings beforehand as many descriptions are quite graphic and uncomfortable to read.

We are not written for one instrument alone; I am not, neither are you.
Amazing, poetically written piece on desire and longing. Aciman is able in his words to take you to the summery italy and really feel the heat of the sun.
The only thing I can point out is that the main character, Elio, isn't a particularly believable 17-year-old. The way he express himself and analyse emotions and gestures is way too mature for his age. And his actions are somewhat toxic and a bit eerie.
But still, really worth a read!
