I think it was just the wrong time. What should have been funny and endearing ended up feeling exhausting and empty to read. I may pick it up when I’m more in the mood for that.

Loved and absolutely inhaled this book! I'm not sure what happened to me but I read most of it in a day (which hasn't happened since I read Sunrise on the Reaping... very different vibes lol). Just reading the premise of this book had me thinking it would be my favourite of India Holton's novels, and it fulfilled my hopes easily!! The tropes were troping in the best possible way and I experienced a stupid amount of joy every time I recognised a little nod to Anne Of Green Gables 🥰 Elodie was a delight, Gabriel hilariously curmudgeonly, and their miscommunication (perhaps better described as misinterpretation) was the perfect level of frustrating-yet-juicy. Sign me up for Love's Academic number three!!

Super cute, funny, and enjoyable like all of India Holton’s books, but these two just didn’t capture my heart like some of her other protagonists. They were really silly goofy though and I love the setting and vibe of this world.
