A best friend's dad mafia romance?! I ate this sh!t up! The drama, the spice, I devoured this book in one night! This is the first Charity Ferrell book I've read and I am definitely a fan. Cannot wait for the next book in the series!
I don't want to die. That's why I'm here, standing in front of Cristian Marchetti's office door. A door that leads to a room where the devil plays his cards."
THISSSS BOOK!!!! When I found out that Charity was going to be writing a Mafia Romance I was sooooo excited.
I fell in love with Cristian and Natalia from the start. Cristian is the perfect antihero. Mean, dripping with sexiness, has all the touch her and you die vibes. Everything I absolutely love in a fictional man.
Natalia was perfect. My most favorite thing in for a FMC is when they take zero shit from their alpha hole, and Natalia did not disappoint. She gave Cristian a run for his money. I really love their dynamic together, the push and pull. It was clear they were both trying hard to not give into their desires, until it became too much to fight.
5 steamy stars for Cristian Marchetti! I can't wait for Benny's book!

This book is a RIDE!
When Natalia breaks up with a mafia man, he does the logical thing any mafia man would do: puts a hit out on her. For protection, she goes to the one man she knows can save her; her best friend's father. Cristian Marchetti. The head of the Marchetti Mafia Family.
Cristian is the epitome of an anti-hero. He has one goal: Protect his family and when Natalia comes to him for help, he sees her as a pawn to help take down a rival family. And even through this, Natalia and Cristian's relationship changes into something more. Something Cristian was unprepared for.
This book has all the steam, heat and spice and every other word in the dictionary. If you are looking for an anti-hero, Cristian is the man for you. This book has all the adventure and suspense with that dark mafia twist. And after reading this, I absolutely picked up Benny's book, Gorgeous Prince.

4.5 stars! Fast paced, marriage of convenience, danger, girl in trouble, mafia
I don’t think it’s any secret at this point that I didn’t care for this book. I thought I would DNF it but I ended up reading it all. Do I regret reading it? Kinda, but it’s done now. Here are my thoughts:
Cristian, despite being a mafia leader, a monster, described as a psychopath - he was interesting. I didn’t like him but his chapters were tolerable and are probably how I made it through the book. He was fine. Natalia sucked. She sucked so much. Honestly, I hate her and not in any kind of enjoyable way. I hated her and hated hating her. I genuinely wanted her to die and/or for Cristian to kill her. That would never happen in a romance, but I longed for her to just go away. She played games, she was entitled, she behaved like a child. She had no trauma or childhood to justify her behavior. She was just like that because she felt like it. She has no redeeming qualities.
So Cristian is fine, Natalia sucks, and the mafia qualities of the book are over-the-top. This story is way too loud about him being “bad” and them being mafia criminals. It’s cliché and farcical with the over-dramatization of how evil everyone is while also not specifying anything. They just killed people who owed them money. A lot of people. So, they’re loan sharks of the mafia sort, I guess.
The twist was obvious but the author did a good job at tying earlier information in, so credit there. And I don’t necessarily mind obvious twists. Most are. I’m rarely shocked in books so I just accept that by about the midway point, I’ll have a good idea of what’s going to happen.
