So, mind the tags, but I actually found this to be a particularly sweet Mafia romance. As cruel as Cristian is for the first half of the book or so, you never get the impression Natalia is in any real danger. They have fun chemistry and the underlying plot was simple, fairly easy to predict, and enjoyable.

This was a low stakes, low tension read for anyone who likes darker age gap mafia romance. Truly. Enjoyable, not a stressful read at all. Not full of cliffhangers either. I finished it in a day and enjoyed myself.

I will say, the Kindle version has numerous errors, more than I usually see. I’m not sure if these are also in the print version, like… actual wrong word choices (deprived instead of depraved, etc). This could be a copy editing issue, and I don’t know what Ferrell’s process is for that, but I’m just going to assume it was an issue in digitizing the book without proof otherwise. They’re a little distracting, so just be aware. It was still a fun story, that aside :)

Christian is a cruel, mean, hard and hot as hell. He seemed like the type who's gonna be very hard to love and open up to. When Natalia came along she was able to crack his shell. As the book goes on ur able to see changes in Christian little by little.
By the end of the book he was so sweet to her (but her only). Natalia is not one to stay put and keep her mouth shut, which I love. She said whats on her mind even if it was dangerous. They both challenged each other in a beautiful way.
Christian and Natalia have so much chemistry you can feel the tension between them. No matter it they were arguing or being intimate
The author managed to give us a really good book with a good plot that didn't feel rushed AND some sexy scenes
ALSO the tropes in this book 🤌🤌
 Bffs dad
 Marriage of convenience
 Big age gap
** i would have liked to give this book 5 stars but sometimes the dialogue wasn't the best it felt a little awkward

Well I quite enjoyed Charity's take on a mafia romance and there's a bit of a taboo element with the MMC being the best friend's father. Oh, and he's the Don ;-)

Cristian was an absolute grump and doesn't like getting his buttons pushed at all, which brings in Natalia. Here to rock the boat a bit and I was absolutely here for it. Creates an amazing dynamic between the two and builds up that delicious tension between them. As much as Cristian tries to keep Natalia at a distance, there's always something that keeps her close and untouchable ... to everyone else, but him.

If you're a fan of Charity's work, this is her darkest book yet. Definitely graphic on the violence, so consider the content warnings.

Such a quick, fun, and oh-so delicious read and solid start to Charity's new series. Absolutely can't wait to devour the next one!
