Not an easy listen, but a good one. Several scenes reminded me of my childhood in South America. Funny the commonalities across these two different continents.

I got the sense that Eugene was fundamentally a good man trying to do the right thing, and I couldn’t help but wonder what sort of father and husband he might have been without the corrupting influence of religion.

Truly heartbreaking.
I loved Aunty Ifeoma and Amaka and the bonds they built with Kambili.
Kambili and Jaja's home life was tragic, and their family in Nsukka truly gave them an escape and allowed them to experience happiness.

This book was challenging to read at times but I got really attached to the characters. I found myself immersed in the story, always wanting to know more about what would happen next. I love how Nigeria was brought to life in culture and experience through the very different lives and lifestyles of the main character's family and her cousins' family.
