This book was so wonderfully written. Adiche really makes you feel what the main character is feeling. So much of this book I spent feeling so anxious because Kambili felt like that.
This book is character based rather than plot based but done really well. I love the characters and how they are presented. Highly recommend.

Adichie's masterful writing, worldbuilding, and references make this inspirational novel so enticing. Everyone has a lesson to take away from Purple Hibiscus.

I had to read this book for a summer reading assignment and, as I usually don’t like the books I read for school, I wasn’t expecting to like this book either. It’s started off a little slow for the first few chapters but then it picked up and I could not put it down. I absolutely love this book and I cant exactly explain why but the writing is so beautiful, the narrative is so intriguing, and the overall story just pulls you in so much so that you forget you’re reading. I annotated this book like crazy because I just had so much to say and so many things I wanted to underline.

To sum up, I definitely recommend to anyone 14+. This is an amazing, AMAZING novel so don’t hesitant to read it!

This book looks at important and heavy topics in a sensitive and complex way. I loved the main character and her brother very much.
