The Dream Home

T.M. Logan

3.67 AVERAGE

Overall I enjoyed this but it felt a little disjointed in the middle, with random flashbacks that I wasn't sure added much to the story. There are some really tense moments and the build up to the ending was well executed!

This was my first book by T.M Logan and I was mildly entertained with this one.
It is your typical new house comes with deadly secrets trope, but it was well crafted. I didn't really care for the MMC, I found his decision making to me quite lacking in the basic commonsense department. Though the blurb indicates that his "secrets", would place his family in danger, I didn't expect the "secret'' to be of such a mundane matter. I expected something much more complex and darker, however as mentioned before, this was my first book by this author, so I didn't know what to expect.

Throughout the book they're a series of revelations and discoveries as our MMC and crew draw closer to the truth, but nothing felt exciting, and I found myself struggling to keep reading. I don't want to use the word bored because I wouldn't necessarily say it was a boring book; it just didn't capture my attention like how I expect my thrillers to.

What I did like though, was how many suspects they were, and the many different directions the author was steering us in. The way he subtly leaves the antagonist lingering in the background the entire time was brilliantly done.
Overall, it was a decent thriller, and I will be exploring more of his backlist.

Thank you, NetGalley and Zaffe Books, for a gifted copy of this new release.

'The Dream House', is the new novel by T.M. Logan, an author whose previous work I have admired greatly. This time, Logan has demonstrated his exceptional ability to captivate readers with his engaging writing style and cleverly crafted plot.

Although the pace of this storyline was slower than what I have come to expect from Logan's work, it was more than compensated for by the intricate plot twists, the well-developed characters, and a conclusion that left me in awe. The book's unique storyline ensures the reader is on a journey filled with suspense, unexpected twists, and turns that keep you guessing until the end.

Logan's writing is skilful, and he has created a cast of complex and relatable characters. The protagonist's internal struggles are explored in-depth, and the secondary characters are well-developed, with unique stories that add richness to the plot. The book's ending is particularly satisfying, tying up any loose ends and leaving the reader with closure.

Reviewing this book without revealing spoilers is challenging, but I can assure you that 'The Dream House' is an excellent read, which I highly recommend. It is an enjoyable read that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

#audiobook the fact that it was set in Nottingham made it a bit more interesting. It’s fun recognising all the differents places and landmarks mentioned. The storyline itself was ok. The main character was a tad annoying, with all his blunders.
