I enjoyed the thrills, and the murders was gruesome. I also enjoyed the family vacation, but I still don't like the romance. I mean, the nanny? really?

Pretty standard entry by patterson and the cowriter du jour. Crime factory book with itty bitty chapters and zero characters to care about. This entry felt like there was a lot of name dropping product placement, if that makes sense. I dont have the energy to write any more details... if you like JP by all means get this book. It was a good audio choice for a long car trip.

i read it all the way through despite wanting to quit it several times. it's a decent story cluttered with cliché and some poor writing. i won't be visiting with Mr Patterson again any time soon.

Fast paced and interesting. A little graphic, but not too bad. Good read.

Because of the huge volume of books that Patterson cranks out each year, some definitely have a rushed thrown-together feel to them. This one; this series is one of the better ones. I love the big Irish family, priest grandfather, and how detective Michael Bennett balances the horror of his job with the joy of his family
tense fast-paced

Michael Bennett books not Patterson’s best work

This one was amazing. I was totally hooked. Nothing boring. Emily Parker is going to piss me off the further I get into the series. We will see. She is TROUBLE!!

I love love love this series!!!!

Michael Bennett squares up against a killer who is copycatting famous killers, including a mad bomber and Son of Sam. He is on a task force, and winds up seeking assistance from Special Agent Emily Parker, who helped him in his last case.

Eesh! Talk about farting out a book! This doesn't consist of much else than descriptions of what Big Bad Mr. Berger is wearing and where he drives to while carrying out his crimes, along with lots of travel descriptions as Bennett goes to the crime scenes and comments constantly on how badly he wants to catch this psycho.

Maybe if you focused less on telling us your destination and how you got there, maybe you'd catch your target a little sooner, eh?

Along with the endless descriptions of the routes Bennett and Berger take, there's a dumb, unnecessary subplot of the Bennett clan going up against a local thuggish family while on vacation. Why was that even there?!? There's a half-assed love triangle featuring Bennett, his nanny and Emily, both if whom he treats surprisingly appallingly. The climax is lame and the book ends very abruptly.

It's typically fast-paced, like most James Patterson books, but its plot is utterly flimsy, and you can really feel the padding.
