I've read quite a few psychological thrillers, and if you've read more than two I bet you can guess the climax to this. I did, but I still enjoyed it! The atmosphere was good and it was very addicting. If I'd read it an another time my rating would be lower, but this was a quick exciting book that got me in the reading mood, so props for that.

Despite guessing a few major plot points early on, I enjoyed this book. The pace was casual and addicting. I kept finding myself eager to continue on. My major issues lied with there being plot points that didn't make sense after I finished the book. I enjoyed the side characters and wish we had more time with them especially Chase. I'd have liked less about Jason overall. As a debut novel, I'm looking forward to future works by this author.

I received an e-copy of this through Net-Galley for an honest review.

We'll Never Be Apart is such a me book. I love psychological thrillers and We'll Never Be Apart didn't let me down. Besides the fact I predicted the outcome of the book in the first few pages, I was still shocked about how everything was executed.

Alice and Cellie have been in and out of mental hospitals, foster homes, and halfway houses most of their lives. There was always one constant though: Jason. Jason helped Alice escape Savage Isle before, and they hid away in a barn. When that barn caught on fire and Jason died, Alice was sent back to the very place she was trying to escape. Convinced the the fire and Jason's death is all her twin sister Cellie's fault Alice starts to plot her revenge. With the help of Chase, a boy who is said to be committed for murder Alice learns the real horrifying truth about her past.

Now, as I said before I predicted this book from the very start. So as I read I was shaking my head at Alice's foolishness in some aspects. But overall I did like her as a character. At first she is very reluctant in her treatment, she is hurt (both physically and emotionally) and mourning the death of Jason. The boy she was in love with. As the story goes one the reader sees Alice begin to realize that her memory isn't all the reliable and not everything was as black and white as it seemed. What if Jason was just as bad as Cellie? As Alice answers these questions she grows as a character, and begins to accept the help that she needs.

The romance is where I took a star off. I liked Chase's character, and I feel for his backstory. No one should have to go through what he did. But, I felt the romance was a little rushed. Maybe I missed something, but Alice wasn't in Savage Isle all that long before the "butterflies" and other things started along with her attraction to him. Especially since she was so in love with Jason, who just died. Alice moved on kind of fast. But that could also go back to the things she learned.

Overall I enjoyed We'll Never Be Apart. It was a head trip and though I caught on to what was happening pretty early on it still shocked me. Especially the epilogue! I probably looked liked a fish out of water trying to comprehend what happened.

I received a digital copy in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you NetGalley

The premise sounds interesting, right? I love psychological thrillers but I don't think there are many good in YA genre. And I don't think what it is about summer but I get craving for some good scary and weird story. And who doesn't like exploring the waters of new authors? I certainly do!

And also, stories about sisters are usually really good! We have two sisters here - Alice and Cellie. From the beginning you will feel Cellie's craziness. She can be really scary! And she loves fire! She loves it so much that she kills Jason - Alice's boyfriend and Alice is severely injured. From that moment, Alice stays at Savage Isle (a mental ward) and she tries to deal with her sister. The problem is - she promised one thing to her - We'll never be apart!

Of course, there is some romance in the story. And I have to ssay I enjoyed it, it wasn't too much and in complemented the whole storyline very well. I feel that the book is on the slower side of things. You will definitely get to know Alice, you will be really questioning her sanity - is she sane or insane? I really enjoyed the process of getting to know her but I do like more plot-driven stories so there were some 50 pages that were really slow. It could have been faster I think but if you enjoy slower stories, you could enjoy this.

Of course, you can expect some twisty twist in this book, because what a psychological thriller it would be if everything was clear from the beginning. I have to say that I found out the twist on my own but it was still very scary and I appreciated it a lot.

I find it very interesting to read stories from the point of view of not sane characters. The brilliant thing is that you don't really know if Alice is reliable narrator or not. So if you like questioning someone's sanity, go fir We'll Never Be Apart.

And the next feature I enjoyed was the structure of chapters. In each chapter there was a present storyline told from Alice's point of view and then there was Alice's diary entry that dealt with her past. In the diary we get to know Alice, Cellie and Jason and we find out things they have done and believe me, there are some crazy things to read about!

Overall, I mostly enjoyed this book. It is a solid 4-star story for me and if Emiko Jean publishes another book in the future I wouldn't be against reading it. I also appreciate the cover which is quite mysterious and really eye-catching. Because I like faster books, I couldn't give it a 5-star rating but I have to say bravo Emiko Jean - for the first book this is amazing!

The writing was just sort of amatuerish and I found it really off-putting. My brain couldn't latch on. Maybe just a me thing but yeah. DNF at Ch. 3

I really liked this book, and when I read it, I couldn't put it down. It was a thrilling read. I especially liked the end of the book, manly because of how it was a major plot twist. It's something I never expected. It really came out of nowhere, and I kind of wanted more after that. I even forced my mom to read this book and she also really loved this.
