“The Court of Dreams.  The people who knew that there was a price, and one worth paying, for that dream. The bastard-born warriors, the Illyrian half breed, the monster trapped in a beautiful body, the dreamer born into a court of nightmares... And the huntress with an artist's soul."

“My friend through many dangers. My lover who had healed my broken and weary soul. My mate who had waited for me against all hope, despite all odds."

I'm obsessed! This book is perfection!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ No matter how many times I've read/listened to this, I'm always captivated by the characters and the story!
I love love LOVE Rhysand, Feyre, Azriel, Cassian, Mor, and Amren! The Inner Circle is the ultimate friend-circle goal. I want in that circle sooooo much!😭😭 And Rhysand & Feyre's romance? Aahh! I want it!!😭😭❤️❤️🫶🏻 They are in my Top 3 favorite couples EVER!!
The strong friendships, the well-developed & lovable characters, the deep & longing romance, the constant tension, the inner turmoil and healing, and the delicious spice, are all extraordinarily executed! Even the betrayals and the pain are top-notch! I LOVE THIS BOOK!🥹

How this book ended up on my TBR: I read the first book in the series and was underwhelmed, but everyone said the second book was WAY better, so here we are.

I know I said five stars. Listen, the second half of the book was just that good (for me). The main reasons are actually the reasons I disliked the first book so much. Feyre in the first book felt flat and unremarkable. The events at the end of the first book left her a changed woman (in more ways than one). I like this Feyre a lot better. She's more mature, more thoughtful, and less willing to put up with bullshit. In the first book, her relationship with Tamlin was "okayyyyyy". I could see a growing friendship but missed any romantic chemistry between them, and I was never sold on the couple. I was even less sold when he treated her like a diamond to shove in a box instead of a living and breathing being with thoughts. Rhysand treats her as an equal. He does not sugarcoat the truth, he's (mostly) upfront with her, and he supports whatever decisions she makes about her own actions. And he is genuinely delighted and proud of her progress with her powers.

Rhysand as a character is also pretty admirable. Unlike with Tamlin, we get a full history with Rhysand and see more of how he is as a leader. (The small pieces we see with Tamlin, in contrast, do not show him in the best light. He seems to be more of a leader by obligation, doing the things he's supposed to be doing instead of showing actual concern for his people.)

You had to know the cauldron thing wasn't going to work in their favor. It was too soon and there are too many books in this series for that to go the way they'd planned. Also, wtf to Tamlin, and bigger WTF to Lucien. He should have known better.

I also really love the side characters that we get to see. Granted, I sometimes get Azriel and Cassian confused, but they are both delightful. Amren is clearly a reader favorite, and for good reason: she's vicious, short on conversation, incredibly smart, and clearly loyal to both Feyre and Rhysand. I like that we also got to see a lot of Mor, Rhysand's cousin, and hope she'll play more of a role in future books. She clearly has a reputation.

And that is how you write a cliffhanger. Can't wait to get to the next book.

As with the first part of this book, I've very much enjoyed the Graphic Audio Dramatized Adaptation of this book, and I hope to continue listening to the next books in this style.

THERE WE GO! Damn. Now I get why people love this series. There's a lot happening and so many little strings being tied together. Curious to see where it goes from here! Some characters really need to go to horny jail though. My god... That was a bit much for me.
