From the man so evil they named a character archetype after him. As someone who doesn't typically enjoy essays, The Prince held my attention better than I expected; a fact I attribute to the sheer audacity of this book at times.

The Prince is less directly evil than I thought, Machiavelli is mostly just a cynic and a man of his time. There are actually some prudent lessons about being virtuous to those who won’t be to you, the nature of power and had some interesting proto-marxist class analysis. However, as a read itself my eyes glazed over a lot because the language was a bit dry in the parts that aren’t as famous.
