I seldom read short stories, because I'm almost always disappointed. I read this book, because I enjoyed several novels by this author and wanted to take a peak. These are well-crafted and disturbing stories told in a non-judgmental way. If you are looking for something "feel good" this is not it. These stories showed things that I'd rather not look at as seen from the eyes of those who do these things. It answers the question "What were they thinking?" These stories feel so real when seen in that light and that makes them close to home and disturbing. I found them very engaging reading.
