I really liked all of the riddles and the mistery, and I alao liked that for me, as somebody who doesn't fit into the age group of young adults anymore the dialogues and actions of the characters weren't too cringey.
I also liked that the story was very engageing and allthough I'm usually not a big fan of books that don't have a set ending and are basically just smaller parts that make a series more digesteable I'm definitly hooked and I'll start the next part right away.
A very refreshing and quick read for me.

this is class!! so mysterious but not predictable at all for me

thoughts while reading
p7: this girlie pop! she's brave to think she can actually live in her car
p11: ooooh now who is this sharp fellow? a hawthorne or a lawyer?
p13: I KNEW IT
p14:
"Don't take this the wrong way," she whispered finally, "but I think he might be God."
🤣🤣🤣
p22:
"Never lose your heart to a Hawthorne"
yeah we'll see long that takes. my estimate is about p167
p25: my first order of business would be to explore all the secret passages
p27: girl why are book mother's first actions upon meeting literally anyone are to embarass their sons as much as possible
p35: I theorise that avery is a long-lost hawthorne somehow. running theory is tobias had a secret child who became one of avery's parents
p44: 🤣🤣 LIBBY IS KILLING ME RIGHT NOW!! she really is a sucker for a pretty boy
p45: HUH she owns a whole damn hotel now??
p51: WELL THAT'S NOT HELPFUL INFO NOW IS IT??
p76: poor libby 😔
p95: oh thea you secretive conniving one
p101: HUH what the actual geck
p113: OFC THERE'S MORE THAN ONE LIBRARY
p123: avery is something to do with toby or that fire or both. mark my words
p184: what the geck girlie pop, this is not going to help anything
p186: nash is such a southern sweetheart and libby is totally already crushing on him and is absolutely gonna fall for him
p223: no STOP cause I'm a bit of a sucker for physical touch and would probably fall in love right there and then
p225: HUH you what
p243: oh gosh poor max
p249:
"Are people being uncouth without me again? How rude."
xander is honestly hilarious
p274: nuh uh you're wrong, you do have all the numbers.
the last one is two cause of the tree

p292: did libby really just put her phone in a blender 😂
p307: REALLY
P310: OH
P311: that's sweet of xander
p328: go for it girl! win this damn thing
p339: I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that
rebecca is almost definitely involved in the assassination attempts

p349: oh gosh I forgot about that part
p356: the WHAT
p365: aww grayson
p369: right i need explanations now please
