I'm honestly disappointed. I was super excited going into this because the premise seemed so fun and interesting plus the reviews were all super high. It's super rare of me to not like a book that is so obviously loved bc I'm normally always part of the majority and never someone who flexes uNpOpUlAr oPiNiOnS.
But OMG this was BAD.
The MC Avery is super 'smart' (ofc) but she shows zero signs of intelligence whilst mentioning that she's smart all the time. Instead, straight away she's just goo-goo eyes at the hot boys that come along rather than being focused on the quest/puzzles/staying alive.
Another reviewer called her Ovary which is so true bc she honestly just thinks with her ovaries, dreaming about the boys' smiles and abs all the time. A lot of the dialogue just cringed me out so much as well, her best friend's texts and Jameson's nicknames for Avery such as 'heiress' = BIGGEST ICKS.
It really annoyed me that she just liked those 2 guys straight up no reason and they sorta did too later on I think???? like zero personality, connection nor reasoning at all (just abs)?? Also, there were just too many random characters thrown in, so unnecessary and the answers to puzzles were so underwhelming plus I guessed some of the cOoL (really obvious) revelations (?).
I liked the short chapters though. My 15yr old self would've eaten this up.
Feel really mean saying all this but just needed to write this so I can remember why not reread this and any following books (also this has made me so sus of any reviewers that say they liked this RIP)
