Mokoya has survived her own child and has been running from that for a long time. She's currently hunting down a naga that's gotten a little too close to civilization in a place where it doesn't belong naturally. This hunt, which she's taken on alone against advice from her allies, leads to her having to both confront the reasons to why she's running and her former ability to see the future. Also, there's a huge naga on the loose.
It took me a while to remember what happened in the first book in this series (which is my own fault, it took me too long to pick up book 2). But once I did, I really enjoyed this story! Getting to see things from Mokoya's POV was rewarding and compliments the first story, giving it even more depth. The deeper look at how prophecy magic works in this universe was especially rewarding to me. Will definitely pick up the next book in this series, and not wait as long as last time to continue this series!

A few years ago, I picked up this book on its own knowing nothing of the series and read it. I loved it then, and now having read it in its intended order (i.e....after the first book) I loved it even more. The writing is just as beautiful as it is in the Black Tides, and tackles grief, trauma, fear, and love in vivid and compelling prose. It's not a continuation of the first book exactly—which becomes a theme for the following two books in the series—but a part of a greater cycle of fate involving the characters. This book dives deeper into how the magic system (Slackcraft) works and how Mokoya's understanding of it is just a fragment of a bigger whole. And, off to the side where the narrator couldn't see, a miniature Neon Genesis Evangelion was occurring between some of the supporting cast. Overall such an amazing book and a great second installment in this lovely series!

(8/10)- I liked this. I enjoyed going into Mokoya’s character and her grief, and watching her recovery. So far this series has a fairly positive story without too much tragedy, but I won’t keep up hope for this to continue because authors break my heart too often. Some things did bother me a bit, like the plot, which was kinda flimsy, and there were some inconsistencies, but overall it was a good story with interesting characters and world building. I look forward to starting the next one.

this was a great continuation of the first novella in the Tensorate series
In this book we follow Mokoya twin sister to Akeha (the main Character form the first book) a few years after the ending of the first book.
Here we follow Mokoya dealing with her grief and learning how to live again and move forward in her life.
It was a lovely short story, that continued with characters from the first book and introduced new ones as well.

WOW! Este libro sí que cumplió con mis expectativas! Constituye el acompañamiento perfecto para el primer libro de la saga, que ciertamente construye el escenario para que la historia de este libro tenga lugar.
Me gusta mucho la idea de que este libro lo vemos desde el punto de vista de Mokoya, pues es algo que me hizo falta en el libro anterior. Disfruté mucho las escenas de acción y las interacciones de Mokoya con Rider, pero sobre todo amé a Fénix <3

It was a decent enough book, but with the first and this being so short, I never really sank into the world and struggled to keep the cast of characters distinct in my head.
