The main character had 0 critical thinking skills and at every stage the story was simply laid out for the reader if you couldn’t put 1 and 1 together. I guess this is for people who’ve never read a murder mystery? Recipes and food descriptions were fire tho, and I will be testing some of them out.

This book is described as a Cozy Mystery, and honestly there's no better way to describe this book!
Unlike other thrillers and mysteries that leave you feeling anxious and exhilarated (both feelings that I love, hence the eternal love of thrillers), this one works at it's own pace without being too in your face.
A&A was really well-written, and my amazing buddy-reader @charliethereader and I just flew through it! There were moments of dark comedy that had me chuckling. It did get a little repetitive towards the middle, and I had chucked off half a star from my current rating.
This book gave me hunger pangs with all the delicious Filipino dishes mentioned, especially the desserts! So I was pleasantly surprised to find that the author had included some of the recipes mentioned in the book at the end (and the reason I increased half a star)!!! Can't wait to try atleast one of the scrumptious Filipino recipes

This was a really cute cozy mystery, and the recipes sound delicious! The main character Lila could use a little more personality, and the setup, working in her aunt's restaurant, was pretty typical, but I like how the case progressed and the setup for future books seems promising. The side characters have plenty of personality. Thank god the love interest doesn't seem to be the small town's detective - yet. I'll be reading more of these after I make some ube crinkle cookies.

i was excited to get into this book, but unfortunately, i just couldn’t stand some of the characters! i know… i’ve only read like 45 pages, but i just couldn’t keep going.
UTTERLY OBSESSED just wish things with amir and jae were hinted at at the end… but also glad I’ve finally read a book that doesn’t have unnecessary romance dragged in!!!! yay!

I continued listening to this because I need distractions while I'm getting work done. Cute enough, and I finished to find out who the murderer was, but the writing left a lot to be desired. Found the MC more annoying than anything else.
