This is probably going to be a pretty short review because, to be honest, I can’t remember much about this book and I don’t have a lot of positive things to say about it. All I do know is that there was something off about this book. I can’t quite put my finger on it. The premise sounded pretty good with the prospect of aliens. I do enjoy a good alien book and a good alien movie. But there was just something about this book that I didn’t care for.

Perhaps, maybe it was the writing. The writing was very stilted. I would expect more expression since the cast was teenagers. I remember being incredibly dramatic as a teenager. Who am I kidding, I’m actually still incredibly dramatic. One of the writing flaws I found was that I was told everything. I was told how the characters felt. I don’t enjoy being told things; I’d rather be shown things.

I also couldn’t bond with any of the characters. With a large cast of characters, you would think I would have found at least one character to bond with but alas, I didn’t. Cora was the MC and boy, I didn’t like her one single bit. Everything she did was annoying and detrimental to her escaping. Then she would sit there and ponder why nothing worked out. She was annoying and the way she went about everything was difficult. I understand that she wanted to get out but there had to be an easier way to do things.

Overall, even though I took notes on this book, I can’t remember much about it. I just remember feeling very annoyed and I had to force myself to finish this book because I hate not finishing books. I might continue with the series but honestly I have better books to read. Perhaps if I get super incredibly bored, then maybe I’ll pick it up.
