Loved this! It was so funny and sapphic and the artwork was interesting. I love the storytelling narrative where the narrator acts like the reader is living in the same world and understands references and things and the footnotes were so funny. I’m just still confused on who the narrator is supposed to be, I probably need to reread more to catch what I missed, and it seemed a little long and dragged out at times.

Stunning atmospheric horror and characters, but the pacing lost me in the 2nd half. Strong ending however.

I really liked this book! I was worried that it wouldn't be suitable as an audiobook but I think it worked really well. I was engaged the whole way through and enjoyed both of the main storylines/time periods. Also, loved the creepy vibes! It just had a bunch of things I love in a novel.

I'd heard that this book had a lot of footnotes and that that, combined with the different timelines, might be confusing on audio, but it flowed well. Maybe even better than if I'd been reading it in print! Also, pretty impressed with how I hardly got lost amongst what was a large cast of characters.

I'm only sad that I missed out on the illustrations. I took a little peek in a bookstore when I was about 60% through and was hoping to find them all online in the PDF attachment that came with the audiobook, but it only had the map of the school!  Will have to go back to another bookstore and see! (This disappointment had no impact on my rating, mind.)

I truly loved this book throughout reading it. The characters weren't all lovable but they were all interesting and I was absorbed into learning what happened to them. And as a queer person I do love that all the characters in this book did fall under that umbrella ( do wish this was more varied, but in a world where this normally doesn’t happen Im happy it did for this book) I found the horror scenes pretty off-putting but not scary which was what I was looking for. I also really enjoyed how the plot and mystery was developed through all of the different perspectives and the timelines.

A couple of the issue that may be a problem for others is the slow read with a passing problem. It is a long novel and the first half of the book drags out a lot of the present timeline while the last quarter seems to move tif you like. If you like solid endings this book won’t be fire you. A lot of the mystery was left unsolved and in a way  that (in my opinion, dear Reader) was not executed well and made certain storylines seem unnecessary or less important.

Was expecting this book to have more descriptive horror aspects and scenes, but it was more of a creepy and morbid undertone with focus on the characters.
