I really wanted to like this book after it being recommended to me. It just fell flat. I felt like the characters had no chemistry. The sister getting involved and telling Claire who not to like or at least not agreeing to it. I believe the sister told Bauer the truth so it would take away the Claire’s happiness. I felt like this story was missing a lot.

Claire loves reading people and figuring out why they operate the way they do. A lot to do with her own childhood trauma. Bauer is a wild child, who is not very close with his family. But he’ll take Finn’s place at the fancy dinner to try and build some connections, especially if he gets to drive Lia insane. Except he doesn’t pick Lia up, it’s Claire and now he’s even more interested in this evening.

I enjoyed the simplicity of this book. It didn't do anything grand or unique, but because it was relatable and easy to read, I definitely enjoyed the heck out of it.

Bauer is such a cinnamon roll. I love him. He's so guarded, but his heart is always in the right place.

The conflict wasn't too hard to guess.

I couldn't give this a 5 stars because I'm not a big fan of insta-love (or semi insta-love at least). The force-proximity trope was cute and somehow justified the insta-connection between Bauer and Claire, but I wish it was hyped up more -- same with the sleepover at Richard's. I wish there were more activities they were thrown together, more cute moments that will make the readers go "aawww". Honestly, a lot of times, I'm just in for the cuteness overload -- the cheesier, the better -- I'm quite easy to please when it comes to entertainment factor.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed this book, and I will definitely pick up the rest of the books in the series.

for me

This was okay. The beginning was good. The middle was good until the end of the middle if that makes sense. It started to go downhill for me. I don’t like how they literally fell in lvoe in like two days. Like magically boom they are in love. I’m not a fan when books do that. But alas the book was good. There were parts that I didn’t like. I am interested in the other books. I wish we got more of an epilogue and not a plug for the next book but whatever. The plot was interesting and the couple was cute. Overall it wasn’t a bad book. I would say overall it was an average book. Not bad but not great. I am curious to see if the next two books are good. So far this book and book 1 were average and kind of disappointing. I was expecting more especially since the original series is so good. 3/5

This author is very quickly becoming a new favourite of mine.
Does she know how to write angst or what! This was brilliant. I read this with a goofy smile on my face and a ache in my heart.

The snowboarder and the nerd, Lia's story.
My notes- I am greatly irritated by some inconsistencies 1. they get invited to stay at some ones house "tonight" when it actually the next night. And 2. like a bad math problem, the fact that they left the house at 8 am, took a 2.5 hr. drive to Vancouver and ended up there for dinner???
And way too much "inner head speak" dissecting peoples behaviors, it was interesting but went on a little too long."

I did enjoy the story but man, after a bit I can only excuse so much...

I'm always into insta spark but not into insta love. Maybe I'm being cynical but tje knew each other just five days.
