UGLY SOBBING. I did not expect to love this book as much as I do ㅡ I swore off annotating but I picked it up again because I couldn't NOT. Begged my dad to help me get the next three books. Imagine that, a grown adult asking dad for book money because work said no more OT but these books became a therapy. I absolutely loved the writing. I loved Pestilence and his steed, keeping the name hidden to not spoil anyone that reads this because it was giggle worthy. Was FMC a little aggravating? Sure! But who cares? I had fun with the book! It's a little spicy, but definitely more to my liking and taste. Snippets, but not full blown smut scene that made me want to skim over it.nvery tactful. Now I'm a dog, sitting my the door, waiting for the rest of the books to be delivered cause it should have been here two hours ago and yet here I am, not reading them the moment I finished!

"I never asked for your vengeance, I asked for your mercy."

This was the most surprising book I've read in a while. I chose to read this solely based off the cheesy sexy-man cover and discovered that it was actually a serious novel that was often depressing as hell. The summary had me thinking it was definitely going to be a dumb erotica about Sara shaking some ass to distract Pestilence from destroying the world. Instead I found a book that (despite Sara's often cringey stupid inner dialogue) had complex themes centered around the good and evil in humanity, mental trauma and how it can affect your actions, the inability to choose who we love while despising what they are doing around you. The toxicity of their Romance kept this book aflame while the TEARS it sprung from my eyes during the death scenes kept the fires from spreading too far. I mean MY GOD! I thought I was in for some dumb sexy ass shaking and instead I am left lying awake at night questioning the inherent nature of mankind?! HUH?? The way that this author made it so that both characters had their deeply set natures, fully enemies to each other: to heal and to kill, but yet torment them throughout the book to where they both question which they are, their ties to humanity, and their purpose going forward. I am floored.

Oh and the spice was nice.

This is one of the best books I’ve ever read. Which is saying a lot since I love nearly every book I’ve read. A wonderful idea for a book and great execution. This book made me examine my own humanity while throughly enjoying myself while reading. I literally couldn’t put it down. I truly can’t wait to read the rest of the series because I am now sucked into the apocalyptic world of the Four Horseman.

so this book took a little while for me to get into. The beginnings of Sara and Pestilence’s relationship was…something, to say the least. I just find it very unbelievable that any kind of meaningful relationship could happen after what Pestilence put her through. Still, if I didn’t think about that part too much, the rest of the book rapidly improved. It was well written, and I enjoyed the character development, especially as their relationship progressed. It has a happy ending, for the most part! This book is basically the mascot of “I can fix him” and I enjoyed most of it. I’m pretty interested in starting the next book!
