this book was not at all what i expected, but it definitely surprised me in a very positive way. its shining moments were particularly the ones where Virginia touched upon the nature of fiction itself and also on the shape of each genre, which may fit one’s individual style more than another.
the aspect of materiality as a necessary tool for creativity is still as relevant as it was in the early twentieth century, as well as the importance of complex female characters and their relationships in regards to other women.
it was witty, well informed and interestingly structured, and will definitely linger with me for a long time to come.
