okay so i have thoughts. many. that i haven’t quite figured out yet. the first thought being that this book makes no attempt at intersectionality at all, in a lot of conversation about privilege she doesn’t once recognise any of hers as a white woman. i think it’s pretty good as an introduction to feminist texts, and i’m recommending it to a lot of men in my life, but it didn’t really teach me anything new. although i’ve never read or spoken about misandry i think i’ve been living as one (to her definition) for a pretty long time without defining it.
she speaks about hating men being a path to freedom and happiness, yet hatred to that extent feels completely exhausting and not at all helpful. it might be a translation thing? because i agreed with everything said other than the use of the word hate.
i think this would’ve been very very good for me a few years ago if i’d found it then, but i still enjoyed it and it still sparked some important conversations

Subjectively, I didn't really learn much from this. Felt more like an introduction when you've never heard of the concept of feminism and "i hate men" before.
It was just fine.

this wasn't so much insightful as it was affirming. I do wish Harmange approached her essay with less preachy anecdotes and a bit more formal evidence but nevertheless

3.5 while there were some ideas in here that I really loved and were explained really well, the lack of depth leaves something to be desired. I wish this was longer and more detailed because it was truly a beautiful essay. A great introduction to feminist ideas, I felt like things were said in here that woman are often afraid to say and I really appreciated that.
