It's a standalone, I liked that. Max was an interesting character, and Alexis was OK. I didn't like how she used him, and then justified her actions and expected him to just forgive her. In fact, everyone seemed to think he should just forget what she did without an apology, apparently. And he did. She didn't grovel at all. The "grand gesture" didn't mean much, it wasn't something she wouldn't have done in other circumstances, she wasn't risking anything by singing outside his apartment, and other than the song he liked (which he sang, hummed, or listened to multiple times during the story, so it wasn't something only someone who cared would know), it didn't have anything special. When they do that in the movies, it means something. Here, it was an empty gesture. Him buying guns for her was more like it. That lack of proper groveling took some enjoyment away, so I knocked off half a star.

MAX IS NOW MY FAVORITE DEARBORNE!!!! The entire book I was just waiting for the bomb to drop that Alexis was playing him but boy oh boy his reaction was everything!!!

Like book 1 and 2, this is written in a dual POV following one of the Dearborne siblings, Max and Tessa's BFF/roommate Alexis. Max is on a "mission" from his older brother Derek to locate an artifact. Alexis is sent to steal that same artifact in order to protect her little brother. She didn't account for Max to be her mark, to be her friend Tessa's new brother-in-law, or for him to be sex on a stick hot. Falling in love with him isn't an option. Or is it?

I love love loved the relationship between Max and Alexis. I loved his struggle with being competent/strong enough. This book was by far my favorite of the Dearborne siblings. If you haven't started the series yet, you are missing out! Supernatural romances with angelic powers, celestial superheroes, vampires, and more...what else do you need?

Omg I think this might be my favorite Silver City Celestial installment yet! Enter sexy Max Dearborne the awkward librarian of the Archive and Alexis, bounty hunter, badass and accurate with a gun. These two are like oil and water but somehow it works and I was rooting for them the entire time. Heinrich turned the steam way up on this one and it even got kinky which can I say that I love the librarian is the one with the kink of the Dearbornes. Very naughty. More of Max and Alexis adventures please!
